Welcome to The Secular Gospel According to Jess! In this blog you’ll find everything from cartoons that make me laugh, to quotes that inspire me, to stories of my own personal experience when it comes to dealing with religion and pretty much everything in between. The title of my blog is intended to be ironic, as one doesn’t often hear the word, “gospel”, associated with secularism, but my intent is to preach, for lack of a better word, what I think gospel should really be about: love, rationalism, fairness, equality, human rights, science and truth. Enjoy!

Why won't God heal amputees?

The most important question we should be asking about God?

  1. Amputees: An Intro to Logic.

    Symbolic Logic and the If-Then Conditional.

    If P, THEN Q.

    P -> Q

    28 But IF I cast out devils by the Spirit of God (P), THEN the kingdom of God is come unto you. (Q)

    43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you (~Q).

    Therefore, Christ is NOT casting out devils by the Spirit of God. (~P)

    P -> Q
    ~Q
    Therefore, ~P

    VALID REASONING

    His Apostles were temporarily under the same directive:

    Luk 10:9 And HEAL the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

    INQUIRY: IF God should heal amputees today, THEN logically conclude that the Kingdom of God is among "us" "today"...

    If you can not, then the claim that God should is invalid.

  2. I understand the logic of your argument but your conclusion is reached under the assumption that God exists.

    Unless, but symbolic logic or any other argument, we can prove without doubt that God exists, then your argument which assumes He does is null and void.

    Jesus says in Mark 11:24: "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

    So then why is God being selective about who exactly the "kingdom of God" comes to? He cannot promise that any believer who asks anything of him will be given it and then selective choose who he will heal/cast out devils from. This is hypocrisy. And a perfect being, if it existed, would not be a hypocrite.

    I hope you are beginning to understand the depth of the problematic questions your simplistic argument creates and fails to answer
